INSPIRATIONS

IN SEARCH OF THE ELEVENTH DIGIT

Inspired by relations, natural science, history and a wide spectrum of philosophy, I search for different kind of measures to paint a universal and infinite code of all communication".
The Egyptians brought the world geometry, Greeks the philosophy. The Hindu through Arabs where the first to accept the infinite and so revolutionary Zero in their calculations. The Western World soon accepted it as well, forever changing the way we understand the world, as well as ourselves in it.
Every field of knowledge has evolved through history, and my thoughts circle around the way this knowledge travels through time. How our vision of reality changes together with ourselves. And I ask myself – what will be left of the invincible scientific and spiritual beliefs we today so strongly claim? We evolve and develop thorough time, but will the tip of knowledge last, or break? Terms like continuity, frequency and strength might be good key-words to represent the fundamental ideas in my paintings.
The surrounding reality seems subject to a universal, indispensable and almost "holy language of everything". A language in which the Truth is written. And though I believe mathematics and physics would be the most precise language to describe (not explain) all of nature, it seems too mere to cope with the questions we ask ourselves about reality. I feel intuitively a lack of some "resolving factor" in mathematics, which is why I think concepts like Alternative Mathematics or "The Next Step" seem too neglected. I present this idea in some of my works, as a search for "The Eleventh Digit". Maybe hoping for another revolution, like the Zero once was…
The mentioned "lack of a resolving factor" however, concerns not only mathematics, but all the philosophies and sciences human kind have tried so far, which is why I believe, they all need each other to generate a worthy answer. A truly scholastic view. We have divided knowledge into many different sciences, to often forgetting that we need them all, to obtain answers and go further in wisdom.
Are we still very far from "divine" understanding? Or, as the most leading brains of our times together claimed in a knowledge-summering gathering – that the answer to our questions about the Truth is soon to be revealed. And it will probably be a surprisingly simple one".

In my art I try to reflect simplicity through the idea that mathematics, imagination and spirituality combined, need a new revolution to bring us further in evolution.
